Healthcare Activos makes senior hire for €800m hospital push
Healthcare Activos has named Albert Martínez Bigas as hospitals director, strengthening the team that will support the deployment of the firm’s new €800m investment vehicle, Green Street News can reveal. Launched in August, the fund aims to support private hospital operations across key European regions where there is a growing demand for hospital infrastructure, driven by population ageing, increase of chronic diseases, rising private health insurance penetration and other issues. The vehicle targets UK, Iberia, Italy and Ireland – and has already deployed €250m across three hospitals in Portugal.
Martínez Bigas joins from Quirónsalud, part of the Fresenius Group, where he spent more than 12 years in senior leadership roles, most recently as head of strategy and business development. He will oversee relationships with hospital operators and support new investment opportunities across Europe. Founded in 2016, Healthcare Activos manages 87 assets across Europe, covering over 660,000 sq m (7.1m sq ft) and valued at more than €1.6bn.
