Sanitas reinforces its commitment to innovation in elderly care with the opening of a new fully digitalised care home in the city of Valencia. This newly built centre integrates all the digital solutions developed by Sanitas Mayores, with the aim of improving quality of care, enhancing clinical safety, and facilitating communication between residents, their families and professional teams.

Located in the Patraix neighbourhood, the residence offers 110 rooms and a total capacity of 132 beds, distributed across seven living units with between 18 and 20 residents each. This model enables more personalised care, promotes emotional wellbeing and encourages residents’ autonomy.

“This centre represents the new generation of Sanitas Mayores care homes: more human, safer and fully supported by advanced technology,” explains Carlos Jaureguizar, CEO of Sanitas and Bupa Europe & Latin America. “The digital solutions we have implemented allow professionals to dedicate more time to direct care, reduce clinical risks, and help residents and families stay more connected than ever. Our goal is for technological innovation to tangibly improve the experience of living and working in a care home.”

The new centre integrates a comprehensive digital ecosystem combining care, communication and safety. Among its tools is the Family App, which allows relatives to stay informed and in continuous contact with the care team, as well as the Alexa Smart Properties for Senior Living system, which includes  new features designed for care environm

ents. This system enables professionals to access real-time updated care information, consult critical data such as diets or allergies, and securely and efficiently record changes, while also enhancing residents’ autonomy through voice commands.

The residence also inc

ludes tablets both in rooms and in the dining area. In bedrooms, they allow care to be recorded instantly, improve coordination among professionals and ensure that all information is directly integrated into the clinical record. In the dining room, tablets help verify diets and allergies during service, strengthening food safety and minimising errors. These features are complemented by digital neurorehabilitation, which adapts cognitive therapies to individual needs, and a digital tracking syst

em for clothing and personal belongings that prevents losses and optimises internal management.

A benchmark in sustainability

The building, with a constructed area of more than 7,000 m², is spread over a basement, ground floor and two upper levels, and incorporates efficiency and sustainability criteria. It uses renewable energy, reducing its environmental impact and aligning with the company’s decarbonisation goals. It is also expected to obtain the BREEAM sustainability certification for buildings in the near future.

The residence benefits from excellent public transport connections. It is also located near two public parks that facilitate outdoor activities, and close to the Dr. Peset and Pare Jofré hospitals, ensuring quick access to healthcare services if needed.

The building is owned by Healthcare Activos, a company specialised in investment and management of healthcare and social healthcare infrastructures in Europe, which has designed and built the centre in close collaboration with Sanitas.

The Patraix residence is the third Sanitas Mayores care home in the province of Valencia, where the company already operates La Seu, in the city centre, and Mas Camarena in Bétera. In the Valencian Community, the company also has a medical centre—with another planned for 2027—two owned insurance offices and 13 partner offices, as well as ten dental clinics, including a Dental and Maxillofacial Surgery Unit.

The new Valencia centre will also be Sanitas’ 47th care home in Spain, and its 132 residents will join the nearly 7,000 users the company serves across its care homes, day centres and home care services.
